What a great Weekend for football and even better for Merseyside with Liverpool winning the Champions League.
Last Night saw some brilliant fixtures in our Monday Night League. Game of the night for Division 1 was Hakuna Mo Salah against Class on Grass.
And game of the night for Division 2 was most definitely Phoenix the Flames against Puyol Pants Down.
Other results from last night are:
The Soccer Dome 3-0 Xavi Dodgers
Paris Ganja Man 3-0 The Seacombe View
Football Friends 5-1 Parkfield Legends
Football Friends 3-0 Fc Tranmere
Parkfield Legends 2-5 Matip Is Huge
First the two games of the night is Hakuna Mo Salah against Class on Grass. Both these teams coming into this fixture of some fantastic wins, can history of last season repeat? With both teams 2rd & 3rd in the league at the minute – the position they both finished last season! This Game was an absolutely fantastic game of football to watch. Pretty much Level until the dying minutes where Hakuna Mo Salah nicked 2, Class on Grass were very very unlucky to not get any points out of this game. Lots of goals in this game meant 3 goals each for Adrian Bennett & Alex McDowell for Hakuna with Adrian Bennet winning MOM. CJ Sutton also added 2 to his tally! For Class on Grass star man Ste Teale bagged 2, new signing Ryan really proved himself with getting himself a hat trick in his first appearance for the team, and James Brooks added another to his tally.
And Game of the night for Division 2 was most definitely Phoenix the Flames against Puyol Pants Down again like the Division 1 game; as this too ended in an 8-6 victory to Phoenix the Flames! This game was very much neck and neck until the final 2 minutes of the game where phoenix bagged themselves the 2 very crucial goals. Phoenix have come in to this new season with a very big point to prove after finishing bottom last season. Puyol Pants down have had a great start to this campaign; with their star man Joe Roberts being top goal scorer at the minute in division 2. And in this game game he proved why he is top goal scorer bagging himself 4 goals in the game, Harry Bhuller got 1 and new signing Bernie Davis started his tally off at 1 too. However top goal scorer couldn’t get the result for Puyol, with Phoenix having a superb game. A goal apiece for Liam Moore, Adrian Bottley & Anthony Tyson, however star man Tyler Gratton bagged himself 5 superb goals and MOM.
Stay Tuned for next week with all things Soccer Dome League.
So last week was our Wednesday Night End of League Tournament. With Park Road Vets crowned Champions of the Masters League & Avenue Vets crowned Champions of the Veterans League, this was a night of celebration.
The Teams that entered our End of League Tournament were:
And our very own from our Monday Night League: The Soccer Dome
A late dropout with Railway Meols meant that each team started with a 3-point lead.
Park Road Vets look to seek a consecutive Tournament win after victory back in the November end of League Tournament, but with Sons of Pitches recruiting their newbies and off a 4 week back to back win can they nick the trophy tonight?
All Games started off well Harvey Bears beating newcomers to the Masters League (Park the Bus) 2-0. Park Road Vets however nicked a fantastic 4-3 win over tournament favourites Sons of Pitches. The Soccer Dome got off to a shaky start especially giving themselves a ridiculous handicap, 2-0 deficit against master’s teams and 1-0 deficit against Veterans Teams. The soccer dome come out as the losing side against Park the Bus, a game in which they banked on winning. Meanwhile, after a brilliant first victory it wasn’t to continue for Harvey Bears in their next fixture with them losing 6-2 to Sons of Pitches. Park Road Vets’ next game seen them up against Park the Bus, this was equal draws with the game finishing 2-2, these are some superb results for Park the Bus. Harvey Bears come up against The Soccer Dome in their next game, the boss against The Staff, Harvey Bears come out on top in a superb 4-1 victory. The Soccer Dome gave Sons of Pitches a brilliant game until Andrew Reid decides to be a keeper and then ends up giving away a penalty, the result ending in 5-1 to Sons of Pitches. It was 1st v 2nd Masters clash with Park Road Vets and Harvey Bears, Park road vets come out as victorious winning 3-1. The Soccer Domes last fixture was up against Park Road Vets and Park Road Vets won 5-1. Sons of Pitches won their last group stage fixture winning 6-1 against Park the Bus.
With injuries bearing a problem for Harvey Bears they decide to dropout of the semi-finals, leaving The Soccer Dome to do their job against Park Road Vets. A superb semi final between these two, The Soccer Dome playing much better football in this fixture, however a late goal from Park Road Vets and the handicap lead of 2-0 meant it wasn’t meant to be for The Soccer Dome tonight.
In the other semi final shown a very different story, with Sons of Pitches dominating the whole 10 minutes of the game. However, give Park the Bus their due they have done so well to get to this Semi Final tonight as proof to show how far they have come within in this season, Sons of Pitches win 6-1.
And the final between Park Road Vets & Sons of Pitches proved nothing less of what we expected, an absolutely excellent game of football between these two teams which was very much end to end with both sets of keepers having the game of their lives. However, with Sons Of pitches just edging over Park Road, it all finished 3-1 to Sons of Pitches who win their first tournament. Going unbeaten all tournament this is a fantastic achievement for them, and huge confidence boost going into the new season.
So Monday Night was our End of League Tournament and what a fantastic tournament it was. It was also a chance for the new teams entering the new season get to know the other teams in the league and see how they play. With Paris winning the Monday League and only losing 1 game all season they sure were looking to do the double tonight.
For the tournament we had a fantastic number of 10 teams so we managed to put them into 2 divisions, Division X & Division Y. Winners and Runners Up of each division going through to the semi-finals and then the final. In Division X we had:
And in Division Y we had:
Football Friends got off to a great start in their division with their first game which saw them come out on top in a fantastic 4-1 victory over, other newbies to the league, No Pascan. Next up they faced Paris Ganja Man, what a game they gave the champions although they lost 2-1. Paris on the other hand weren’t so happy with this victory, with keeper Karl Graham saying at the start of the tournament, “I’m going to keep a clean sheet tonight”. Paris then proved why they are league champions for the 5th season running by a superb 7-0 victory over No Pascan. No Pascan then turned that massive defeat into a brilliant victory over FC Tranmere, they won 4-3 in their best game yet. League Runners Up Class on Grass started their tournament campaign off to a great start with a comfortable 4-0 win over Football friends. However teams started to get on to how these guys played with FC Tranmere managing to nick a 3-0 win over them. Paris Ganja Man topped Division X unbeaten and scoring a fantastic 18 goals and only conceding the 1. Class On Grass were runners up in this division winning 2 games and only losing 2 games. Fc Tranmere just missing out on that runner up spot by having the same amount of points of Class On Grass, but a 7-0 defeat by Paris cost them as they missed out on Goal Difference. Football friends came 4th in the division as they couldn’t find more than 1 wins out of the 4 games. And No Pascan came bottom of the group again by goal difference.
In Division Y it was a different story and much closer than Division X. Hakuna faced Borussia teeth, Borussia Teeth have had a few friendlies with us so know how the teams in our leagues play. On paper Hakuna are the stronger team (literally) but as we know with tournaments… in the words of Ellie Goulding “Anything Can Happen”, and boy is this right in this fixture with it being 1-1 with neither team finding that second winning goal. Borussia Teeth on high now after that draw they go into the fixture against The Soccer Dome and boy what a high they are on as they come out of this fixture as champions in a 2-1 win, a shocking defeat for The Soccer Dome.. Could this be the end of the road of their tournament campaign? Well if you know The Soccer Dome 5 aside team you’ll know they never do things the easy way, as their next 2 fixtures they finally won. A 3-1 victory over Hakuna Mo Salah in which a superb worldy of a goal was scored by Jason Biddulph from his own half beating not only Hakunas keeper but their team too with a brilliant curl & also a superb 4-0 victory over Phoenix the Flames which will see The Soccer Dome hopefully redeemed? Borussia Teeth’s fantastic run came to a halt against Phoenix The Flames, Phoenix The Flames claimed victory over Borussia teeth in the highest scoring game of the nigh…. 9-1 “WOW”, in 8 minutes that’s an average of a goal every 53 seconds for Phoenix, Incredible. And the last fixture of the division was between Hakuna Mo Salah & Phoenix the Flames, now this was a brilliant fixture to finish on as it meant if Hakuna were to go through and top the group they needed a victory over Phoenix, but if they lost or drew, The Soccer Dome would go through. And the result wasssssss….. A 3-3 draw so The Soccer Dome came through after having a pear shaped start to topping their group. Kariu2Glory came Runners Up winning just one game, drawing 2 and losing one. However Hakuna Mo Salah and Borussia Teeth just missed out on the Runners Up spot due to goal difference with both teams landing the same amount of points as Karius2Glory. Phoenix the Flames came bottom of the group even after that fantastic result against Borussia Teeth.
This meant the two Semi Final fixtures were as follows:
Paris Ganja Man v Karius2Glory
The Soccer Dome v Class on Grass
The first semi-final was between Paris Ganja Man and Karius2Glory; the ever improving Karius were looking to have tournament luck in this fixture as they search for not only a win to get them to the final but a first win against Paris. Although Paris were the stronger team on paper, the result did not match in the first half of the 8 minute game, with Karius really pushing and keeping the game tight. However in the latter half of the game Paris showed why they are just too good and bagged a 5-3 victory over Karius which saw them into the final.
The second semi-final was between The Soccer Dome and Class on Grass, The Soccer Dome come into this semi-final for nice revenge over Class on Grass who in their last league game against each other beat The Soccer Dome 6-5 and took the runners up spot out of their hands. The Soccer Dome took an early lead in the first couple minutes which gave them a huge boost. After playing the possession game for the remainder, it soon come to bite them as class on grass equalised in the last kick of the game, penalties it is. The Soccer Dome were up first to take the penalty with Callum Barker and he slots it straight in the bottom left corner and sending the keeper the wrong way. Ste Teale was up for Class on Grass who puts his penalty in the top right. Ale Reid was up next for The Soccer Dome who puts it straight down the middle megsing the keeper. Tall Skinny blue bib was up next for Class On Grass who’s penalty is brilliantly saved by DK. Jason Biddulph is the last of the 3 for The Soccer Dome, if his penalty is scored takes The Soccer Dome through to the final comfortably. And he does just that, left foot sends the keeper the wrong way in the bottom right corner.
So we have our final, Paris Ganja Man against The Soccer Dome. The two teams who topped their divisions come head to head, what a brilliant fixture this is going to be. First 6 minutes was pretty much equal draws at 1-1 with Paris finding an early goal through Karl Barker and The Soccer Dome finding the equaliser through Ale Reid. However the last 2 minutes saw Paris Ganja Man turn up the pace and their level by 1000% with them bagging 2 fantastic goals. Not enough time for The Soccer Dome to get 2 more goals to equalise before the final whistle goes.
And so after a fantastic tournament/ League Paris Ganja Man have managed to bag the double for the third time.
We already can’t wait for the new season in 2 weeks’ time.
So Last night saw the final games of our Monday League for this season. With the End of League tournament in just 2 weeks’ time we already can’t wait for next season.
A few friendlies taking place to get the new teams joining the league a taste of what the Monday Night League is about. Borussia Teeth came up against Karius2Glory and gave them a very, very good game only losing 9-3. Football Friends faced other newcomers Parkfield Legends. Football Friends looking like an extremely decent side coming into the new league by beating Parkfield 19-1, are they the team to beat in division 2 next season?
We had 2 league games last night too, a second place deciding game between The Soccer Dome and Class on Grass, and then Hakuna Mo Salah came up against bottom of the League Phoenix.
The first of the two games was Class on Grass against The Soccer Dome. Now Class on Grass have had a brilliant season, starting off as the underdogs and being bottom of the league after 4 games. Manager Ste Teale has recruited and recruited and has now got his team up to 3rd place. The last time these 2 teams met The Soccer Dome won in landslide. The first 10 mins of the game was very much equal drawers, until Ste Teale bagged the opener. They got a quick second, until The Soccer Dome got one back through Andy Reid. With 10 mins to go Class on Grass were 5-2 up and still looking goal hungry. They quickly bagged a 6th in a controversial decision over a moving ball from a free kick. However The Soccer Dome pushed on and in the dying minutes they bagged themselves 3 more goals but just couldn’t find that equaliser. Class on Grass finish the Season in 2nd and The Soccer Dome 3rd, a fantastic first season for both teams, these are 2 teams to keep an eye on next season.
And the Last League game of the night, Hakuna Mo Salah against Phoenix the Flames. Hakuna have been 2nd throughout this season, however some slip ups in the past month have seen Hakuna drop down to 4th. In the first 5 mins of the game Phoenix bagged the first goal. Hakuna were quick to react with an equaliser. However Phoenix was even quicker to retain their lead back by scoring the next 2 goals. Hakuna managed to bag just one more goal, until Phoenix showed them what they were made of by having the last 15 minutes of their lives, finishing off the game at 8-2. In a tale of 2 stories this game turned out to be Hakuna having an extremely poor game and Phoenix having their best game yet. Unfortunately even having the best game they could possibly have Phoenix still unable to move from bottom of the League. MOM of the game was Ale Reid for Hakuna.
We already cannot wait for the new season in 3 weeks’ time.
And another night of brilliant fixtures on this fine fantastic Monday Evening this week. Phoenix Flames pull off an outstanding 9 all draw with Xavi Dodgers, Paris Ganja Man prove why their top dogs in the Monday League in a 15-1 thriller against The Seacombe View, The Soccer Dome back to winning ways in an 11-6 victory over Karius and Class on Grass bag their first win in weeks over The Flask.
First up we have Xavi Dodgers against The Flask. Xavi Dodgers come in to this fixture of two back to back wins over The Soccer Dome and Hakuna Mo Salah, and they are looking to keep up this unbeaten streak. Phoenix the Flames however, although sitting bottom of the table, have recruited some more players, come in to this fixture after only holding Paris Ganja Man (The League Leaders) to a 6-4 win. This is bound to be a brilliant to kick start the night. An boy were we right, Phoenix started the game off and take the lead with not 1 not 2 but 5 goals, yes that’s right a 5 goal lead after 10 mins. After 15 mins Xavi had brought the game back to 5-5. After this point the game ended up very much end to end with both sides playing some fantastic football. Player of the match was Tyler Gratton which was thoroughly deserved bagging himself 5 goals.
Next up was The Seacombe View and Paris. Now although The Seacombe View started the league quite slow, the past couple of weeks they have really started to find their feet and won 4 out 7 games (not too bad for a first season). However they have a tough test here tonight against top of the league Paris. Paris also bringing back one of the original players Jake Clarke, this definitely is going to be a tough test for The Seacombe View. The game pans out pretty much as it says on paper, a Paris Ganja Man walkover, a completely one sided game. Even though Paris absolutely dominated the game from start to finish, they never make a huge scoring win boring, they always make sure their games and their football is brilliant to watch and they did that tonight. At least The Seacombe View was able to get a consolation goal, and the only negative Paris can take is that they didn’t keep a clean sheet which they could have very well done. Karl Barker was MOM in this game for pitch perfect performance.
Next up for the night sees The Soccer Dome up against Karius2Glory. Now the last time these 2 teams met Karius came out as top dogs and proved to be the Soccer Dome’s bogey team. And within the first 5mins we thought this fixture was going to go the same way as The Soccer Dome went 3-0 down. However, 5 mins later The Soccer Dome had not only equalised but where 5-3 up. Could they bag a win here? An extremely solid performance from The Soccer Dome all game after a shaky first 5 mins and they came out on top showing that they do really mean business in this league beating Karius 11-6. Mom goes to Ale Reid who bagged herself a hat trick. Shout out also to Karius’ keeper Jay Caine, who, if it wasn’t for him The Soccer Dome could’ve really annihilated Karius.
And Finally, Class on Grass faced The Flask being the last fixture of the evening. Class on Grass are having a stable first season this season, bagging themselves a few cheeky wins but also throwing away a few games. On paper The Flask are by far the strongest team going into this fixture. However boy where we wrong… Class on Grass from the start to the final whistle, where by far the better side! Ste Teale banging in goals like no tomorrow and his dad Peter Teale doing his bit the other end stopping all the Flasks shots. A fantastic performance throughout by Class On Grass and by far their best performance in The Monday League yet! It won’t be long until they are sitting in the top half of the table!
